One of the best jobs I ever had was working as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the Bradford Lions Pool. Sadly, the outdoor pool became too costly to maintain, and after the new recreation center was built, it was filled in and replaced with a grassy knoll. If you ever find yourself sitting on the grass where the pool used to be, close your eyes and listen carefully—you might still hear the whistle blowing and lifeguards shouting, “Slow down… No running!”
